Daring to Defy Barriers – A thought provoking collection of work by artists with learning disabilities.
PIP is proud to present ‘Daring to Defy Barriers’, a unique collection curated in partnership with the Guardian Gallery. Launched on Thursday 29th October to a well attended and receptive audience, the exhibition will be on display to the public until the 21st November 2015.
The launch event was a massive success and the audience had the opportunity to meet one of the featured artists, PIP student Lauren who had a number of works on display. Here she is pictured below with PIP Director Bill Feeney who had this to say about the event:
“This exhibition is a great opportunity for PIP’s students to demonstrate to the community how creative and imaginative they are. The Guardian Gallery is a wonderful space to showcase a small grass roots charity and gives us a platform to raise awareness about the work we do and the issues affecting adults with learning disabilities”.

To support the art and emphasise the theme of overcoming obstacles, we also unveiled an inspiring selection of photography and stories that show PIP students such as Emma-Louise (below) as they defy the barriers faced by people with learning disabilities. These powerful images and accompanying case studies encapsulate the difficulties encountered by our students, and reveals their incredible resilience and strength to overcome them.
The exhibition is on display until 21st November 2015 and is free entry.
