Student Voice

Student feedback is essential to how we develop and improve services at PiP.

Each year, PiP students vote for new student representatives. Shardonnay is the current PiP student rep. She is paid for her student rep duties such as attending Trustee Meetings. Below Shardonnay explains how she got the job, what she does and her message for students.

To get the job I had to write something about myself, why I would be a good student rep and how I would support the other students. I found out I was successful at a parent’s evening and it happened in front of everyone. I was shocked, so shocked. It was a nice surprise because I did not expect that they would tell us on that day. But I think it was good because one of the trustees was there and my family as well.

My job is to listen to students and write it down and present it to managers and trustees.

My message for PiP students and other people with learning disabilities is even though you are disabled you can make something out of yourself. Do not let people tell you different, because people told me different and here I am today – student rep.  It is achievable, it just takes time.

What do students think of PiP?

Making sure the student voice is at the heart of what we do is important to us at PiP.

Every 2 years we carry out a survey with students to make sure we are constantly improving and taking their feedback on board about how we can get better and provide services that are important to them.

In 2019, in response to student feedback we introduced Creative Writing and Cabaret sessions. In 2021, we started a Podcast Group. We look forward to hearing what they come up with next!

Below are just some of the things that students have said they love about PiP and what’s important to them.

PiP online sessions are important because I miss seeing the other students. Marcio

PiP is important to me because it has boosted my confidence. Now I can travel alone. Lydia

My favourite is Cabaret Club. We have adventures! Safia

Our favourite thing is Music. We get to explore. Luai and Tugba

PiP has helped me get a job at Petit Miracles. I’m proud of that. Gemma

I am proud of being a PiP receptionist and getting paid. Danny
