PiP was started in 1984 by local parents with children with learning disabilities who were transitioning to adult services.
They wanted support and challenge for their young adult children to become more independent – something that remains at the heart of our mission today.
Originally called the Paddington Integration Project, as our area of impact and reach expanded, we updated our name and PiP, as Pursuing Independent Paths, registered as a charity in 2001. It’s our vision that we live in a world where people with learning disabilities are valued for their contribution, their creativity and their uniqueness.
You can find out more about the history of our area on PiP student Gemma’s new local history webpage.
